Another prop commission finished!

To finish it off I dulled the Mirror Shine Silver spray paint by rubbing watered down black emulsion paint onto and dabbed it about with my finger tips, and then rubbed Graphite Powder onto the Blade detail and the hilt to give it a slight metallic sheen and to help make a feature of the detail when the light catches it.

what tools do you need to make this? I never make things out of wood. so I don't know anything, even the easiest thing. I have always wanted to make swords, you know, the anime ones.

When i make a sword from wood I usually use MDF, and then cut it out using a an electric jig saw and sand the blade edges down into shape using an electric sander, then cover the edges in Poly Filler and sand it back, then give it a few light coats of Spray Filler and carefully sand that back with some fine grade 'Wet & Dry' paper that has been dipped in water. Then once painted I spray it all with some clear lacquer to make it shiny and to also stop the paint chipping off.
